New Delhi, August 15, 2023 – India has retained its 11th position in the ISSF World Soft Power Index 2023, according to the latest report released by the Indian Strategic Studies Forum (ISSF). While the ranking remains unchanged from the previous year, India’s points have seen a significant increase, largely attributed to its vaccine distribution efforts across the world.

The World Soft Power Index ranks countries based on various indicators, including economic and political stability, cultural influence, and global engagement. The 2023 edition of the index has placed India in the 11th position, just behind China and ahead of Singapore.

Vaccine Diplomacy Boosts Points

India’s rise in points within the index is a testament to its growing influence on the global stage. The country’s extensive vaccine distribution campaign, known as “Vaccine Maitri,” has played a crucial role in this achievement. By providing COVID vaccines to numerous countries, especially in the developing world, India has demonstrated its commitment to global health and solidarity.

The report highlights India’s efforts in supplying vaccines to various countries, strengthening its position as a responsible global player. This has not only enhanced India’s reputation but also contributed to its overall soft power.

Consistent Performance

India’s consistent performance in the World Soft Power Index reflects its strategic approach to international relations and diplomacy. The country’s focus on cultural diplomacy, economic partnerships, and humanitarian aid has solidified its place among the top soft power nations.

The top five countries in the index are the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Germany. Switzerland, South Korea, Spain, Canada, and China complete the top ten.

Looking Ahead

As India continues to navigate the complex global landscape, its soft power strategy will remain a vital component of its foreign policy. The country’s ability to leverage its cultural heritage, democratic values, and global partnerships will be key to maintaining and enhancing its position in future rankings.

With the World Soft Power Index 2023 shedding light on India’s growing influence, the nation’s leadership and citizens can take pride in their contributions to global cooperation and understanding.
