According to the institute, the best way to treat ichthyosis is to change the genes that cause it. The growth cycle of normal skin cells is 28 days, while the growth cycle of ichthyosis skin cells is only 3-5 days. Therefore, changing the cell growth environment and allowing the cells to resume a 28-day growth cycle determines whether ichthyosis can be completely cured.
