Finally, a long wait ends today! I got lucky to have got your time for this interview. Thank you Gurpreet garry Walia for taking time out of your busy schedule to chat with us:

WHO IS Gurpreet Garry Walia IN YOUR OWN WORDS?

I am a TV news reporter. I am currently working as deputy executive Editor for TV24 news channel. I live in city beautiful Chandigarh I love being a journalist because I get to meet new people every day and tell their stories.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS IN YOUR INDUSTRY?

The key to success is to be authentic and to be neutral . Don’t try to be something that you’re not, viewers and social media users will see right through that. Be yourself, be kind, and people will be attracted to that and want to see your work. As far as Indian media is concerned it is divided in two groups pro-government and anti-government, I would suggest every journalist out there to be neutral if you want to have success.

WHAT DO YOU THINK IS SPECIALLY REQUIRED TO SUSTAIN THE COMPETITION AND GROW EXPONENTIALLY AT THE SAME TIME IN MEDIA INDUSTRY

Journalism is very competitive because there are few jobs in it and even those are being cut every day due to covid 19. To stay competitive, you have to know the right people. One must work hard and give appropriate time to the media industry to sustain. Apart from working hard one even needs to have connections within the media industry. So basically as per me to sustain in journalism one needs to have connections, without connections it is hard to survive in industry. Here I would like to mention that one should have connections but those connections should not have any interference in the working , loyalty towards journalism should remain on top.

VIEWERS WOULD LOVE TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR JOURNEY SO FAR AND HOW DO YOU PLAN TO TAKE IT FURTHER

I have worked for news channels all over Punjab and I plan to continue doing that. Once coronavirus is gone I am planning to work for print media as in electronic media we have so much limitations in the present government . In the future, I would like to travel more and stay ahead in digital journalism.
