A tragic accident occurred in Indore when Nikita Jain, a software engineer at the prominent IT company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), was fatally hit by an unidentified vehicle. The incident took place on the Super Corridor, a busy stretch where metro construction work is ongoing, resulting in an increase in accidents in the area.
Nikita, a 32-year-old native of Bhind, was returning home on her e-scooter after completing her shift at TCS’ Indore campus on Super Corridor on Thursday evening. As she exited the company premises, she was struck by a vehicle near the gate whose driver has not yet been identified. Police are currently examining CCTV footage to determine the responsible party.
Nikita’s husband, Ashish Kumar Jain, is also a software engineer working for a major company in Ghaziabad. The couple had been married for only a year and a half. Nikita had joined TCS just four months prior to the accident and commuted to work on her e-scooter.
Following the accident, Nikita was rushed to Aurobindo Hospital with the help of her colleagues. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and passed away later that night. Her husband, Ashish, arrived in Indore the following morning by flight.
According to SI Laxman Singh, the police have not yet been able to identify the vehicle involved in the accident. They are continuing their search for relevant CCTV footage to aid in their investigation.
As the metro construction work continues along the Super Corridor, concerns over the safety of commuters and pedestrians have been heightened. Authorities are urged to take necessary precautions and measures to prevent further accidents and ensure the well-being of those using the roads.
It is to be noted that the entire traffic of Super Corridor has been shifted to the service lane that allows access to TCS & Infosys campuses. Resulting in a bidirectional heavy vehicle traffic. Meanwhile, TCS has also taken some action and made changes to their parking layouts. TCS Indore did not respond to our requests to comment on the matter.
